Bonjour ladies! It’s me! Justine! Or as my friends call me, Juju! Right now I’m curled up, staring out the window watching the snow fall. It’s a giant blizzard and I’m totally stuck inside today. And what do you do while you’re riding out Winter Storm Jonas? Bake ALL of the cookies …. obviously!!!
You can’t have an amazing snow day without homemade cookies and hot chocolate!
Can I just tell you that I have a passion for all things food? I’m a fierce chef in the kitchen! Iron Chef? Gordon Ramsey? Top Chef? I would totally dominate the competition! Umm… don’t tell Ramsey I said that 😉
Nothing makes me happier than cooking or baking for the people I love. I learned that from my mamie. That means grandma in French! I learned a lot of things from my mamie like how to make the perfect meringue or how to flip an omelette or what are the best French songs to play while you’re cooking. Have you ever heard Edith Piaf sing? Her voice will literally make you float through your kitchen and all of a sudden the eggs you’re beating are as fluffy as clouds! I love her song “Sous le Ciel de Paris”. Do you know what that means? Under the skies of Paris. Isn’t that terribly romantic?!!!! Today I’m listening to “La Vie en Rose” and making Mamie’s molasses cookies! They are full of sugar and spice and everything nice! They will warm you up in the this cold, snowy weather! Ooh! There’s the timer! Gotta run! While I take the cookies out of the oven, here’s my recipe! Try them out and share your pictures with me!
1 ½ Sticks of Butter Melted
1 Cup Sugar
¼ Cup Molasses
2 Cups of Flour
½ Teaspoon Ground Cloves
½ Teaspoon Ginger
1 Teaspoon Cinnamon
1 Teaspoon Baking Soda
1 Teaspoon Baking Powder
½ Teaspoon Salt
It’s real simple. All you gotta do is: Mix the flour and spices together.Mix the sugar and molasses with the melted butter and pour into the flour mix. Stir well. When cool enough, add the egg and mix. Chill for 1-2 hours. Roll the dough into balls and then coat in sugar before baking at 375 degrees for 12 minutes. Bon appetit!!!
P.S. sometimes i make my cookies in the shape of little cats, just like my cat Bernie… you could try that out too!
